At approximately 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, the victim was walking home from the East Lake MARTA station when another man approached the

victim, according to Decatur Police. The suspect had his hand in the waistband of his pants insinuating he had a weapon and repeatedly told the victim to give up his phone.

But the victim wasn’t fooled.

The victim put his phone in his pocket and refused. The suspect then “withdrew his hand from his waistband, stretched out his arm and with his fingers mimicked having a gun and again demanded the phone,” according to police.

When the victim saw the suspect didn’t have a weapon he yelled at the suspect, causing him to turn and flee on foot back towards the MARTA station. The victim walked home and called police.

According to the victim, the suspect was a black male between 19 and 23 years old, approximately 5 and a half feet tall and 140 pounds. The suspect’s hair was in dredlocks, approximately three inches long.
