Do you ever see those physically fit people sprinting through town and shake your head? It’s a common goal to be more physically fit, but sometimes the first step is the hardest one to take.

Decatur Active Living‘s “Walk with a Doc” series aims to make it easy to get the blood pumping with less intensity than boot camp or Crossfit. Wednesdays from 11am to noon, a medical professional (think Optometrists, Dentists, Neurologists, Orthopedists, Psychiatrists, Counselors, Veterinarians, Firefighters, EMTs, and Master Gardeners) will take a stroll around the city and answer questions about how to live healthier lifestyles.

Decatur therapist Dr. Sharman Colosetti told Decaturish.com she is excited to participate in the new program.

“Everybody experiences some form of stress in their lives,” said Dr. Colosetti, “I think exercise is a great way to keep stress at a manageable level.”

The group meets at 231 Sycamore St in Downtown Decatur Wednesdays at 11am. In the event of inclement weather, the walk will move indoors to the Decatur Recreation Center walking track.

The word is getting out, come see what all the chatter is about… walk with a doc @ 11am every Wednesday.

  • Went on the walk this morning, a bit warm but great company and a brisk stroll through a lovely behind downtown neighborhood followed by cool down yoga stretches.
