– Decatur Metro reports that the Decatur Housing Authority will host the “On The Same Page” reading event on Friday. There will be a party for the kids, based on this year’s novel Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. The On The Same Page Event is brought to you by the unrelenting do-gooders at Little Shop of Stories and in cahoots with other do-gooders at Decatur Book Festival, the Decatur Education Foundation, and the Decatur Rotary Club. – DeKalb County’s Board of Commissioners has increased funding for its ethics board. In a related story, the former County CEO is accused of being highly unethical.

– Two people from Decatur are awaiting trial in Illinois, accused of participating in an ID theft ring. Police in Illinois arrested seven Georgia residents on charges related to the alleged ID theft ring. Police say the suspects were employed by organized crime bosses in Eastern Europe.

– The DeKalb Champion newspaper reports that city of Decatur police received 1,500 calls in six months about suspicious persons. Most of those calls occurred in July and May, the newspaper reports.

– DeKalb Sheriff Thomas Brown has joined the race for 4th U.S. Congressional District, according to Cross Roads News.
