Decatur Police Charge 2 Teens With Burglary

Decatur police have charged two teenagers with burglary in separate incidents in the Great Lakes neighborhood.

Department spokeswoman Jennifer Ross provided this information.

On Oct. 21, a 15-year-old DeKalb County male was arrested and charged with breaking into a house in the 100 block of Superior Avenue.

Police said the house was entered the afternoon of Aug. 25 when somebody broke a Plexiglas pane in the front door and used a key left in the lock.

An iPod, a laptop, a cellphone, purses, backpacks and cash were stolen. Some items were recovered near the intersection of Scott Boulevard and Superior Avenue. The front doorknob of a neighboring house was damaged but entry was not made.

The second arrest was made Oct. 22. Brandon Brown, 17, of Decatur was charged with two counts of burglary and three counts of theft by receiving.

Police said three bicycles were stolen from garage and porches in the Great Lakes neighborhood. The bikes have been recovered and returned to their owners.
