Icon_GovernmentCity Commissioners will consider approving agreements with Georgia Power to relocate some utility polls in anticipation of two upcoming streetscape projects.

The commission’s regular meeting is Nov. 18.

The city needs to move a utility pole in front of Harmony Park for Oakhurst streetscape improvements. It also needs to move five more utility poles for Phase V of the downtown streetscape projects.

The cost of relocating the poles will be around $109,000, and the money is in the budget for it. Materials given to commissioners in advance of Monday’s meeting also provide a status update on both projects:

“We have completed right-of-way acquisition for the Oakhurst Streetscape improvements and. ban·ing further requirements from GDOT, anticipate that we’ll receive project authorization this winter. We need to close on one more property for the Downtown Streetscape improvements and expect authorization next summer.”

City Commissioners will also consider annexing properties at the following addresses:

2522 McKinnon Drive

2532 McKinnon Drive

2596 McKinnon Drive

609 Kirk Road

615 Kirk Road

721 Kirk Road

There’s another item on the agenda concerning a petition requesting speed humps along Adams Street.
