Avondale Estates To Light City Christmas Tree Tonight

Avondale Estates will plug in the city Christmas tree Monday night.

All the action happens right across from city hall, starting with food. At 6 p.m., Boy Scout Troop 6 will start selling hot chocolate and cookies and Girl Scout Troop 24433 will sell vegetarian, white chicken and beef chili.

At 6:30 p.m., First Baptist Church will lead caroling. At 7 p.m., the tree lighting happens with a special visit by Santa.

Avondale Estates actually has two trees. The one on Lake Avondale will be lit at 6 p.m. Saturday. The city Menorrah, located across from city hall, has also been plugged in.

In Decatur, a menorah lighting and Chanukah celebration will start a 6 p.m. Monday on the Court Square. There will be donut decorating , Latkes, Sufganiyot and “Mr. Dreidel Photo Ops.”
