Kirkwood: Suspects in bike trail shooting on the loose

Icon_PoliceAtlanta Police are still seeking suspects in a Dec. 26 shooting that left one man dead and another man injured.

The shooting happened on a bike trail in Kirkwood, around the 200 block of Rogers Street NE in Atlanta, GA. The late afternoon shooting involved two male suspects who approached the three victims – two males and one female. An altercation ensued, and one man was shot in the head. He’s since been identified as X’avier Arnold, 21, according to Atlanta INtown.

INtown reports that Arnold was a student at Savannah College of Art and Design. Several other media outlets have reported that he served in the U.S. Army. To read the INtown report, click here.

On December 26, 2013, approximately 5:40 pm, Zone Six Officers were dispatched to (the 200 block of) Rogers St., NE, Atlanta, GA on a person shot call. When the officers arrived, they noticed; one (male) unresponsive with head injuries, and second (male) with a defect to his leg and a (female) not injured but very upset. Atlanta Fire #18 &13 and DeKalb County AMR #M73 (ambulance) arrived on the scene to medically examine the injured victims and transport them to Grady Hospital. Zone Six CID and Homicide Unit began the preliminary investigation on this incident and it suggests; while the three victims were walking at aforementioned location, two suspects approached the victims, got into a physical altercation with the two male victims and the two male victims were shot during the confrontation. The two suspects fled the scene after the gunshots were fired.
