Kids home because schools are closed? Send them to Polar Camp

Share

I swear I am not making this up.

As parents with kids in City Schools of Decatur are now well aware, school is closed tomorrow, Jan. 7, due to the impending snowpocalypse.

For parents scrambling to find something to do with their kids, the City of Decatur has created an impromptu solution: Polar Camp.

No, seriously. Not making this up.

From the city:

For City of Decatur residents looking for something for the little polar bears (aka children) to do, there will be a special Polar Camp tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Decatur Recreation Center, 231 Sycamore St.

Polar Camp is first-come, first served for a limited number of City of Decatur students in Kindergarten through fifth grade only. There is no cost for Polar Camp for Decatur residents. Parents will need to fill out registration and health forms when dropping off campers who are not already enrolled in after school programs.

For more information, please call Children and Youth Services at 404-378-1082.

I have no idea what one actually does in Polar Camp, but if Santa starts delivering toys with “Made in the City of Decatur” labels on them, we might be in trouble.

In related news, adults still have to go to work or burn PTO.
