Carjacking – Juveniles arrested

Decatur police report that two people were unharmed in a carjacking on Sycamore Street at 1:34 am on Feb. 19.

Police Sgt. Jennifer Ross said the victims were sitting in a parked car when four men approached them, two holding guns. One put a gun to the driver’s head and demanded money and the car. The driver complied. The second suspect, described as a black male, approximately 5’6 – 5’8 and wearing a red or orange cap, tan “Carhartt” style jacket and dark pants, demanded the passenger’s phone and punched her in the face. The four men then got inside the vehicle and fled south on Church street.

Officers soon responded to a call of an accident the yard of a home on the 900 block of South Candler Street and found the victim’s car. One witness saw two men run from the car onto Driftwood Terrace. Another witness saw two men run from the car south on Candler Street. The DeKalb Police Department K9 unit assisted Decatur Police in finding two of the suspects in the wood on Driftwood Terrace and one behind a home on the 200 block of Brower Street. The suspects turned out to be juveniles.
