A new poll shows that incumbent Gov. Nathan Deal will have a fight on his hands in his reelection bid.

According to Atlanta Journal Constitution political analyst Greg Bluestein, a poll conducted by Public Policy Polling shows Deal is in a statistical dead heat with his challenger, Sen. Jason Carter, D-Decatur.

According to the story, 45 percent of respondents said they would vote for Deal and 42 percent said they would vote for Carter. The article notes that PPP is a “center-left” polling agency. Bluestein writes that the poll puts Deal’s reelection chances into “iffy territory.”
