DeKalbSchoolsThe DeKalb County Board of Education is inviting the public to weigh in on the school system’s budget.

DeKalb Schools is in the process of drafting its budget for Fiscal Year 2015. In government accounting, fiscal years often differ from calendar years. In this case, DeKalb’s fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. We are currently in Fiscal Year 2014, which will close on June 30.

The community input session will be held Monday, March 3, at 5:45 pm at the J. David Williamson Board Room in the Robert R. Freeman Administrative and Instructional Complex. The address is 1701 Mountain Industrial Boulevard, Stone Mountain, GA.

There are 15 spots available for public comments. If interested, you must show up to the meeting site between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm to sign up. Speakers will be called on a first-come, first serve basis, the meeting announcement says.

Currently there is no draft of the 2015 budget on the county website. The county’s budget for this year was $1.25 billion.
