Makeup test – Governor, mayor prepare for winter weather

Gov. Nathan Deal and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed held a press conference today to deliver a simple message about the expected winter storm: We got this.

As reported by Creative Loafing, the two elected officials outlined steps they are taking to get ahead of winter weather that’s expected to fall tonight. Deal and Reed have been hammered in the media – both social and traditional – for their perceived lack of preparation in advance of a Jan. 28 snow storm.

Many local school districts are cancelling classes tomorrow, Feb. 11, and local employers are allowing their staff to work from home.

Deal’s office sent out a press release declaring a state of emergency for the following counties: Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Chattooga, Gordon, Floyd, Bartow, Polk, Paulding, Cobb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Barrow, Haralson, Carroll, Douglas, DeKalb, Clarke, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Wilkes, Walton, Rabun, Habersham, Stephens, Franklin, Hart, Madison, Elbert, Lincoln, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Cherokee, Forsyth, Hall, Banks and Jackson counties.
