Beginning next Sunday there will be a farmers market in Avondale Estates.

The market is called the Avondale Estates Farmer’s Market, appropriately enough. Its official debut will be March 16, and will be a weekly market opening each Sunday through December 13, 2014. The market will be located at 2846 Franklin Street in the Little Tree Art Studio parking lot.

The founders are Rusty Bowers, owner of Pine Street Market and Sweet N Sinful Bakery, and Bob Means, owner of Little Tree Art Studio. Bowers said the market will be open from 9 am to 1 pm.

He said there will be 10 vendors to start. Bowers said that there hasn’t been a regular market in Avondale Estates, as far as he knows.

“The closest was back when the DeKalb County Farmers Market was just a booth,” he said.

Bowers said it will be “a very home town type of market.”

“We’re looking for ways to connect all the people of Avondale with all of our food producing friends,” Bowers said. “Avondale doesn’t have access to something like that in this area We’ll have coffee, art, demonstrations acoustic bands, the bakery will do a cupcake decorating for Mother’s Day, those types of things.”
