Ash Wednesday was March 5. It marks the official start of Lent, a period of sacrifice and reflection before the celebration of the resurrection Jesus Christ. (Yes, I’m a Catholic, so this is stuff that I can recite in my sleep.)

Anyway, the ritual is to remind you that from dust were you made and dust you shall be. Members of the Holy Trinity Parish Episcopal Church in Decatur know that people are often in too much of a hurry to contemplate their own mortality, so they took Ash Wednesday on the road.

Junior Warden Julia Gable said, “This is our third year offering ‘Ashes to Go’ at the Decatur Marta station on Ash Wednesday.”

Rev. Pamela Cooper-White said it was, a “Wonderful experience.”

Check it out.
