Reason: Power Outage Resulting In Pressure Loss at Hemphill Water Treatment Plant

Comments: A Georgia Power outage resulted in a temporary loss of pressure in the drinking water system. The system was restored to normal operations within approximately 13 minutes. The integrity in the water system was not compromised. However, in an abundance of caution, a boil-water advisory is in effect for the areas listed above.

To be cautious, customers in those areas should boil water for 1 minute past a rolling boil before using it for cooking, drinking or brushing teeth. Infants, the elderly and those with immune deficiencies should be particularly careful.

The Department of Watershed Management is flushing the system as a precaution and sampling the affected zones to affirm that there is no contamination in the system, as well as investigating causes of the power interruption.

This advisory is in effect until 5 pm tomorrow.
