Atlanta will soon swear in Police Academy class No. 235, adding 28 officers to the city’s ranks.

The Atlanta Police Department will hold a swearing in ceremony on April 10 at the Atlanta Police Training Academy, located at 180 Southside Ind., Pkwy. The swearing in ceremony begins at 2:30 pm.

“Twenty-six male and two female officers will participate in the ceremony that concludes 22 weeks of rigorous training at the Atlanta Police Academy,” a press release from APD says. “Training consisted of classroom courses in constitutional law, local and state laws, Atlanta Police Department policy and procedure, hands-on defensive tactics, arrest techniques and daily physical fitness. Next, these officers will experience 12 weeks of field training with veteran officers.”
