The city of Decatur will host the State Championships of Cornhole this June.

Be Active Decatur blog reports that the state championships will take place June 13 and 14.

“Decatur Active Living has partnered with the DeKalb Convention and Visitors Bureau and American Cornhole LLC to bring the Georgia State Championship of Cornhole to Decatur on June 13 and 14,” the announcement from the city says. “On Friday, June 13 the event will be held on the MARTA Plaza and Saturday’s Championship games will be held in the Decatur Recreation Center gymnasium.”

Cornhole is a game where players toss bags filled with corn into a hole. It’s particularly fun to play while drunk.

The winning singles player and doubles team will advance to the finals of the American Cornhole Organization World Championships of Cornhole in Charleston, W. Va.

So what is the American Cornhole Organization?

“Established in 2005 and headquartered in Milford, Ohio. American Cornhole Organization, the ACO, is the governing body for the sport of cornhole,” the ACO website says. “Offering official cornhole rules, sanctioned products, tournament listings, and comprehensive information about cornhole event.”
