Decatur Police say a website that purports to sell automobiles may be selling magic beans instead.

According to police, a website for Consultancy Auto Center lists a Decatur address of 700 Commerce Drive in Decatur, GA. The website is http://dealerplatform.com/autocenter/

“That address does not exist,” Decatur Police Sgt. Jennifer Ross said. “The site offers an on-line finance application and once approved you are to travel to the auto center to complete the purchase of a vehicle.  It is possible the purpose behind the site is to obtain the personal information required to complete the on-line finance application which puts you at risk for becoming the victim of identity fraud. ”

A reporter called the number listed on the website but no one answered the phone. A live chat link on the website says “We’re not around, but we’d love to chat another time.”

The first blog post on the website was created April 1, 2014.

“Please use caution when completing online applications and confirm the physical location of the business,” Ross said. “Best practice is to complete finance paperwork upon visiting the seller.”
