The Georgia Department of Transportation says it is keeping its weekend road work to a minimum, closing lanes for only the most-urgent repairs.

GDOT’s biggest weekend project is removing the overhead sign on I-85 in Atlanta near the recently-opened ramps for the north interchange with Georgia 400.

“From 9 pm (Friday), continuously until 5 am., Monday, April 14, two left (inside – the HOV and immediately adjacent) lanes of I-85 will be closed in both directions between the GA 400 and North Druid Hills Road interchanges,” a press release from the Transportation Department says. “In addition, the HOV lane in both directions in this same corridor will remain closed until 5 am, Tuesday, April 15. At all times, however, a minimum of three lanes on I-85 in each direction will remain open to traffic.”

GDOT reports that other possible closures this weekend include closing one left lane of State Route 154 east and west bound Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights in DeKalb and Fulton counties between Columbia Drive and Candler Road for resurfacing.
