The Georgia Department of Transportation plans to continue with road work plans in spite of rainy weather forecast for Friday and Saturday.

With many people hitting the roads for spring break, GDOT is asking drivers to plan accordingly.

“I think we will be dodging the rain this weekend,” District Construction Engineer Shun Pringle said in a press release. “Motorists, including Spring Breakers, still need to plan ahead to avoid delays, even though we may not have as much going on this weekend. Call 511 or look at a mapping web site before you leave home.”

On GDOT’s agenda for this weekend:

– From 6 am Saturday until 6 am Sunday, there will be a double right lane closure on I-85 southbound from the half mile north of Clairmont Road to North Druid Hills for removal of a sign structure.

– Removing overhead signs on Georgia 400 southbound will require closing a single right lane from Peachtree Road to Sidney Marcus Boulevard from 6 am Saturday to 6 am Sunday.

– There will be a double right lane closure on the I-75/I-85 Downtown Connector northbound from Central Avenue to Edgewood Avenue from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm on Saturday for asphalt repairs, according to GDOT.

The rest of the road work will occur during overnight hours, including, a single left lane closure on I-285 northbound from Hollowell Parkway to Paces Ferry Road for sign replacements.
