The Georgia Department of Transportation says, “The Easter Bunny will be making a lot of travelers in Atlanta happy this weekend with just a single daytime interstate lane closure in the basket.”

This year’s basket-sized lane closure will involve shutting down the left lane on I-285 northbound in DeKalb County from I-20 to Georgia 400 from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday, April 19.

“With only that one closure on I-285, everyone should have an easier time getting to their destinations, whether it is church on Sunday, going to grandma’s house or just to get out and enjoy the nice weekend,” said District Construction Engineer Shun Pringle  said in a press release.  “The only other closures you could see during the day is if there is some type of emergency or accident that we need to deal with but I am hoping that we won’t see any serious incidents.”

There will be some nighttime closures. According to GDOT:

– Three right lanes will be closed each night from 8 pm until 6 am on I-20 westbound from Wesley Chapel Road to Candler Road for striping work.

– Two left lanes will be closed from 9 pm to 5:00 am each night on I-285 northbound in Dekalb County from I-20 to Peachtree Dunwoody Road for barrier wall placement.

All work is weather permitting, GDOT says.
