Avondale Estates Police recently reported two vehicle break-ins. One of those vehicles was a school bus, police said.

A report for the “week ending May 1”  contained in the city’s May 5 newsletter says there was an, “Entering auto in the 1200 block of Clarendon Avenue. Theft of electronics and other items from a school bus parked at a local athletics field. No known suspects.”

Police issued an alert about the other break in.

The alert says an Avondale Estates Police officer responded to a call on Berkley Road on May 2 at 10 am.

“Upon arrival and initial investigation, it was determined that unknown persons had entered a vehicle which was parked in the driveway,” the report said. “There were no signs of forced entry or items taken, but the ignition switch had been tampered with in an apparent theft attempt.”

The alert also says, “Everyone is reminded to make sure that their vehicles are locked at all times when not in use. Summer is almost here and criminal activity historically increases; please remember to practice crime prevention tips throughout the season.”
