School’s out and summer vacation has arrived.

Subjects of this Friday’s roundup include barn kittens, East Ponce construction, school resource officers and water ambushes. Enjoy.

Decatur Police Sgt. Jennifer Ross says, “The Decatur Police Department is proud to share that SRO (School Resource Officer) Matt Damico has received the Superintendent’s Award of Excellence. Nominations are sought for (City Schools of Decatur) staff who have a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude in serving students, the school and/or CSD, who demonstrate a commitment to the mission and vision of City Schools of Decatur, who go above and beyond the call of duty and who do more than his or her job requires out of a commitment to excellence.  SRO Damico was presented with the award by CSD Superintendent Dr. Phyllis Edwards and is pictured with Dr. Edwards and Decatur Police Chief Mike Booker.”
