A cake design store has become the latest business to relocate to Avondale Estates.

Icing Cake Design has announced it will be moving from its current location in Scottdale to the Tudor Village in the city’s increasingly busy downtown.

“My partner and I have lived here for 11 years and we are excited about bringing our business home and becoming a part of the revitalization of downtown,” owner Laura Haass said in an email distributed by the city. “We will continue to design custom wedding and special occasion cakes at the new location, and we are adding the retail Sweets Boutique. The Boutique will feature gourmet products associated with cakes such as whoopie pies, s’mores, madeleines, and of course, premium ice cream flavors to go with it all.”

The business closed its old location on May 23 and plans to reopen at the end of June, according to an announcement posted on the company’s website.

Earlier this month, Mama Bath + Body announced plans to relocate to Avondale. The business will leave its Decatur location and open in Tudor Village, the building that contains the old Towne Cinema.

A new restaurant, The Bishop, also opened up shop this month. Last month a new vinyl store, Sunbrimmer Records, opened its doors.
