Here are some of the other ideas that Sharna Fulton came up with for our special 1-year anniversary logo. I really liked these, too.

I’ll keep it short and sweet. We’ve all got things to do today.

In the month of April we received $52.50 in donations. That’s a bit less than the $580 we received in March, but I was trying to avoid making so many direct appeals for funding. As I’ve said, my goal has always been to make Decaturish a self-sustaining enterprise.

I’d rather readers spend that money supporting businesses that advertise with us. That’s about the best thing you can do to keep us going. But I won’t turn a donation down, if the spirit moves you. It certainly doesn’t hurt.

We had 148,000 page views, a new record, and 49,555 unique views, which is our second best ever.

If you think there’s value in having innovative, interesting news in your community, there are some things you can do to help:

–  Consider buying an ad. I’m the publisher so I have to take an interest in this. I am working with an ad salesman, Jeff Cochran, to try and keep the editorial and advertising side this business separated. I want this product to have integrity. Buying an ad with us will put your message in front of thousands of people on a monthly basis. It will also support a service that has tremendous value to the community, particularly if you’re a business owner. As a business owner, you need to know what your local government is up to because it is the government closest to you. To learn more about advertising with Decaturish, click here.

Support businesses that advertise with us. Click on the ads and take a look at what they have to offer. These businesses help us ensure that the news is available when you want it, free of charge. If you choose to do business with these companies, please don’t forget to tell them you appreciate their support of local journalism.

Follow us and share us on social media. Our Facebook page cracked 1,000 likes in April. It’s up to more than 1,100 likes now. Our Twitter account has 476 followers now, and we add new ones daily.

Donate to Decaturish. We are trying to rely less on donations, but the help is certainly appreciated. The “Donate” button is in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

Thanks again to all of our readers who check us daily and are spreading the word about us. I sincerely appreciate it.
