Decatur Police say a woman who was struck by a car while riding her bike Tuesday remains hospitalized but her condition has improved.

City spokeswoman Casie Yoder said that the investigation is ongoing, but it appears the bicyclist was struck by a car while she was attempting to turn left onto Waters Street from West Ponce de Leon Avenue.

“The bicyclist remains hospitalized at an area hospital,” Yoder said. “At this point, her injuries do not appear to be life threatening. Charges are pending against the driver of the motor vehicle.”

On Tuesday, the city reported that the bicyclist, a 26-year-old woman, had sustained “life threatening” injuries and said the driver was cooperating with the investigation. The city hasn’t released the name of the driver or the victim or provided any further details about the extent of the injuries and the possible charges the driver may face.

Decaturish.com has requested a copy of the police report from the city.
