Jeff Myers goes by @djRestaurateur on Twitter and that’s a concise description of his background. He’s a well-known DJ – he played at Tomorrowworld last year – and one of the founders of the Top FLR restaurant and The Sound Table, a nightclub-restaurant concept.

He told Decaturish he is planning a new business venture, one that will be just outside the Decatur city limits on College Avenue, down the street from Ale Yeah. The proximity to the craft beer store is an important detail. The restaurant won’t serve alcohol and is opting instead for a BYOB concept.

Myers plans to open in August, but some details are being finalized.

“No name yet,” he said. “And no dishes to reveal.”

He said the space is small, so it has some limitations. But within those limitations, Myers sees possibility.

“The space is a 21 person restaurant, that has eight seats on its outside front patio,” Myers said. “We are talking tiny! Travis Carroll, who I worked with for close to 2 years (at Top FLR) is the chef and my business partner. Together we are going to create a menu of foods people crave, an easy twist on food that provides a service for the hungry. Our menu will be extremely affordable, a place that someone could visit daily. We plan on being open for lunch and dinner, maybe a little breakfast, but again the kitchen and dining room is so small, that we have to make sure it’s even possible.”

He said he looks forward to serving both Decatur and Kirkwood residents.

Myers said he’s already signed a lease for the space, which will be located in between B&B Salon and Molasses Salon.

“Been in here scrubbing for a few days,” Myers said.
