A Decatur Police officer spotted two men taking items from the back of a city work truck which led to a “brief pursuit” this morning, Aug. 5.

The suspects tried to ram a police car during their getaway, according to Decatur Police Sgt. Jennifer Ross.

Ross said that at approximately 9:23 am, an investigator noticed two men removing lawn equipment from a city truck parked in the area of West College and Atlanta Avenue.

“The suspects noticed the investigator and got into a black Ford Explorer (no tag) and tried to ram the vehicle the investigator was driving before fleeing the area,” Ross said. “A brief pursuit ensued but was called off for safety concerns.”

Ross provided this description of the suspects:

Suspect #1: Black male, approximately 5’7-5’9, wearing a blue hat, blue jeans and dark colored pants.

Suspect #2: Black male, approximately 6’0-6’2, wearing a white shirt and white pants.
