The city of Avondale Estates recently posted an announcement for a permitting concierge position.

The city of Avondale Estates recently posted its job opening for the newly-created “permitting concierge coordinator” job.

According to the job posting, the salary range is $32,500 to $52,500. This employee will be responsible for guiding applicants through the city’s permitting process. Mayor Ed Rieker first suggested it, saying the concierge would be the applicant’s “advocate.”

All job applications were due by Aug. 29, according to the job posting.

Major duties of the job include issuing building permits for commercial and residential construction, reading and interpreting “simple construction plans,” and investigating customer complaints or concerns.

The minimum qualifications are a high school diploma required, an associate’s degree with coursework in engineering, urban planning, building codes or inspection preferred. The job also requires, “One year of extensive public contact experience and experience in issuing permits/permitting processes and development services.”

There’s been a reshuffling of top city staff in recent months. Oscar Griffin was promoted from Parks and Recreation Supervisor to Public Works Director. The Parks and Recreation Supervisor’s Position remains vacant, according to the city’s website.
