Police arrest man with history of burglary, arson

Decatur Police have arrested a man wanted on charges of criminal trespassing who also has a record that includes charges of burglary and arson.

A Decatur Police Officer arrestedĀ Calvin Sims on Aug. 31 in the 800 block of Commerce Drive, Decatur Police Sgt. Jennifer Ross said.

The trespassing charges stem from damage to property on the 800 block of 3rd Avenue that the night of July 20.

Simms was previously arrested in 2006 and on charges related to burglary and arson cases in that area. Police warned residents to call police if they noticed odd damage to their property such as writing in marker on homes, outdoor furniture being rearranged, slashed tires, cut cables and evidence of burnt paper.
