The Place on Ponce started leasing the first of its planned 234 apartment units on Sept. 8.

Conor McNally, Chief Development Officer with the Carter, provided Decaturish with an update on how things are going so far.

“Leasing is off to a good start,” he said. “We’ve had a lot of interest in the project and have signed around five leases already. We are only offering 27 units for lease right now in the front building, so we hope to be complete with the process in the next few months.”

An earlier press release said Carter would be leasing 28 units.

The project will have 234 units in two, five-story buildings. The Place on Ponce will offer one, two and three bedroom apartments and 10,000 square feet of retail space.

“Amenities will include a 4,000 square-foot resident club room, a 1,700 square-foot fitness center, resort-style pool, dog spa, bike repair station and two outdoor courtyards,” the press release says. “Phase I is scheduled for delivery in November, with the remainder to be completed in summer 2015.”

A spokesperson for the company did not know what the rent rates will be. Previous estimates indicated the range will be $1,100 to $2,500.
