A MARTA spokesperson says the Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal bus accident.

Alisa Jackson, manager of communications for MARTA, said that at 8:30 am on Sunday, Oct. 12, a man driving a convertible collided head on with the bus on Roosevelt Highway near the Global Gateway connector. Four people riding the bus, including the driver, were injured.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution identified the driver of the convertible as Ricky Kindrick of Union City.

There have been three fatalities involving MARTA within the last three weeks. On Sept. 27, Brenda Travis was crossing Ralph D. Abernathy at Lee Street and listening to her headphones while looking at her cell phone when she was hit by a MARTA bus. The driver in that incident is facing charges. On Oct. 1, Mahendra Kumar Ghelabhai Patel was hit and killed by a MARTA train at the Georgia State University Station.
