Avondale Estates Police report that someone stole a handgun from a vehicle parked at a home on the 100 block of Olive Street.

Police responded to the call on Nov. 11 at 5:50 pm.

“Upon arrival and initial investigation it was determined that unknown persons had entered the victim’s vehicle earlier in the day and removed a handgun from the glove box,” the police department said in a community-wide alert. “There were no signs of forced entry and no witnesses located.”

People with information are encouraged to call Investigator Tom Gillis. He can be reached at 404-391-4526.

“Citizens are reminded to lock their vehicles at all times when not in use, and to take items inside or lock them in the vehicle’s trunk,” the alert says. “All suspicious persons, vehicles and/or activity should be reported to 911 immediately.”
