Read the final draft of Decatur’s zoning code rewrite

For most of this year the city of Decatur has been rewriting the city’s zoning codes, and there’s a last draft awaiting the approval of City Commissioners.

On Nov. 5 the city made the final version of the Unified Development Ordinance available on the Decatur Next website. While the city says 95 percent of the ordinance is cleaning up what’s already on the books, there are changes aimed at making buildings more energy efficient and promoting affordable housing.

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the UDO at 7 pm on Nov. 11 at City Hall. The City Commission will consider approving it at its Nov. 17 meeting, which starts with a work session at 6:30 pm.
