The Decatur Bulldog Boosters are holding the 10th annual Run with the Dogs 5k race this Saturday, Jan. 10, beginning at 9 am.

“This run/walk event begins and ends in front of Decatur High School, on North McDonough St., and traverses a scenic, if challenging, course,” an announcement from the Bulldog Boosters says. “The RWTD5K will again feature a single 5K race where runners/walkers and dog-owners can run/walk with (or without) their dogs.  T-shirts, awards, and treats will be available to participants as well as a sporty ‘race-kerchief’ for canine companions.”

Entry fees are $30 for individuals, and $15 for city of Decatur students, teachers and employees. Money will go toward buying uniforms, equipment and awards for City Schools of Decatur student athletes. To register for the race, click here.

The race is rain or shine. Local artist Adam Pinsley designed the tee-shirts this year and they’ll only be available for people who pre-register, the press release says.

Michael Harbin, one of the race organizers, said there’s also a contest associated with this year’s event. According to Harbin:

The Run With The Dogs 5K is having a photo contest on Instagram (@RWTD5K) and FaceBook (www.facebook.com/rwtd5k)! We want to see pictures of you and your dog!

Here’s how to enter:
1) Register for Run With The Dogs 5K at active.com. Search Run With The Dogs.
2) Post a picture of you and your dog to the RWTD5K Facebook page and/or to your Instagram feed and include #rwtd5k and @rwtd5k in your post.
3) The picture with the most likes from Facebook and Instagram will get reimbursed for one race entry. Winners will be selected separately from Facebook and Instagram.
4) From the remaining pictures we here at RWTD5K will select a “Top Dog” from both Facebook and Instagram. “Top Dog” winners will also be reimbursed for one race entry.

The contest will end on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 11:59 pm.
