Avondale Estates City Commissioners will meet in less than an hour to consider a proposed annexation map.

The city has just released the proposed map and resolution being considered at tonight’s meeting. The annexation map appears to omit an area near the intersection of South Columbia and Memorial Drive that contains a Wal-Mart.

If commissioners approve this resolution, it will be forwarded to state Rep. Karla Drenner with a request that she introduce legislation calling for a vote on the annexation proposal. Drenner has notyet committed publicly to doing so.

The meeting begins at 5:30 pm and will be held at Avondale Estates’ City Hall, located at  21 North Avondale Road.

Here is the resolution. Check Decaturish.com for updates from tonight’s meeting.

UPDATE: City Communications Manager Kelly Brooks sent over the following update, “You are receiving this email because you are one of a few Avondale Estates E-News recipients who may have viewed an earlier draft of the annexation resolution for tonight’s BOMC meeting. Please note that in the final resolution, there is no Area D. The resolution that will be discussed at tonight’s meeting contains only Area A, Area B and Area C. Click the agenda items link in the E-News below and reload your page, if needed, to view the correct resolution.”

I guess the tax revenues from a Walmart weren’t worth the hassle of having a Walmart.
