CSX will begin work on the railroad crossing at Candler and McDonough streets in Decatur next week.

CSX spokesperson Kristin Seay said the company has finished its work at the Atlanta Avenue railroad crossing.

“Feb. 2 we’d be in Decatur on Candler and McDonough Street,” she told Decaturish. The crossings are by Decatur High School, which is usually thick with traffic in the mornings and afternoons during the week.

Seay did not have other details, like the times and specific days crews will be on site. She directed Decatur residents to the city for detour routes.

The city’s last update on this topic on The Decatur Minute Blog was Jan. 9. The track work is part of a larger rail maintenance project in the Atlanta area.

We will update this story when more details become available.
