There are some fun opportunities happening in and around Decatur this week.

  • The Decatur Farmers Market is celebrating the spring return of its Wednesday market. Many of the regular vendors are returning, and there will be a chef demonstration Wednesday. It runs from 4 p.m to 7 p.m. in the front lawn of Decatur First Baptist Church. Decatur Police will also be holding a bicycle registration event.
  • Also this week in Decatur, the Decatur Business Association is holding its annual Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday on the front lawn of Decatur First Baptist Church. The Easter bunny arrives at 10:30 a.m., and the hunt starts at 11 a.m. sharp.

Also from the city:

  • The Decatur Visitor Center and Tourism office is once again sponsoring a postcard photography contest. We are inviting residents to submit pictures of their most iconic images of Decatur. Submissions are due March 27, and winners will receive $150 plus have their postcards published by the city.
  • Celebrate the Arts in Decatur this spring! The Decatur Arts Alliance is seeking street performers, artists, singers, musicians and dancers to enliven our downtown on Saturday afternoons. Selected artists will receive $100 for their two hour performance. Interested? Send an email with some sort of audition clip to [email protected]. Contact Angie Macon, Director of the DAA for more details (404-371-9583).
