Decatur’s Planning Commission has recommended the City Commission deny a developer’s request for an exception to city codes. Applicant, Redstone Investments, wants to open a juice restaurant at the 315 West Ponce development.

“The applicant wishes to open a juice restaurant and reduce the current number of drive through lanes from four lanes to one lane and remove the existing canopy,” the planning and zoning report says. “The applicant has proposed to reconstruct the existing lanes with angled parking and additional landscaping area.”

City Commissioners were expected to consider the request at their April 20 meeting, but Mayor Jim Baskett announced that the item had been withdrawn from the agenda.

The Decatur Downtown Neighbors association sent the following letter asking the city to reject Redstone’s request.
