Tidbits: Cakes & Ale now serving lunch

Decatur’s Cakes & Ale restaurant has announced it will begin serving lunch Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.

“Billy Allin’s lunch menu includes a seasonal quiche, an ever-popular Monte Cristo sandwich on homemade C&A bread, and smoked trout with mixed greens, lentil salad, marinated beets and spiced crème fraiche, to name a few,” the announcement from the restaurant says.

– Villagio Italian Kitchen, located at 1355 Clairmont Road, in the same shopping center as Community Q, has been purchased by the owners of Baraonda and Publik Draft House. It is now open as Villaggio Gastro Italian. According to the description on its Facebook page, “This new concept brings you the comforts of classic Italian fare created in a modern way!”

The restaurant also weighed in on the state Legislature’s recent consideration of a “Religious Freedom” bill that would’ve allowed business owners the ability to deny service to individuals based on their religious beliefs. Chefs at several local restaurants will be teaching “Simple Abundance” cooking classes. The classes, hosted by Cook’s Warehouse in Decatur, raise money for the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

Tickets are $55.
