More work is being done on Oakhurst’s Streetscape project this week.

Deputy City Manager Hugh Saxon said the contractor, CMES, is continuing to build new curbing around Harmony Park.

Saxon said CMES is also planning to complete installation of two new driveways in front of Family Dollar. A temporary crosswalk has been installed across East Lake Drive on the west side of Oakhurst Village.

In early June, the contractor will begin improvements to Harmony Park. Those include:

  • Installation of new on-street angle parking on East Lake in front of Oakhurst Market and One Step At A Time
  • Construction of storm drainage improvements and development of a new Harmony Park plaza where the old parking lot is located

CMES worked to install a storm drain pipe last month. When the project is finished, it will transform the heart of Oakhurst at the intersections of Oakview Road, East Lake Drive, West Hill Street and West Benson Street. There will be new sidewalks, lighting, and trees along the roads. The project will also increase the size of Oakhurst’s Harmony Park.
