The Decatur Police Department is advising drivers that Scott Boulevard will be closed on May 12 between Clairemont Avenue and Coventry Road from 9:30 am to 11:30 am for accident reconstruction.

Decatur Police Lt. Jennifer Ross didn’t specify the accident being reconstructed, but said, “I would assume (it is) the fatality from April 25.”

That accident claimed the life of Lakeside High teacher Leah O’Brien and critically injured her eight-year-old daughter. A student at Lakeside High, Ramiro Pedemonte, was arrested and charged with two felonies – homicide by vehicle and serious injury by vehicle – related to the April 25 car accident on Scott Boulevard at Ridley Circle. Police allege that he was driving his rented Dodge Charger more than 100 miles an hour when he struck O’Brien’s vehicle as she was turning left off of Ridley onto Scott Boulevard.

Pedemonte and his date were headed to the Lakeside High School prom.
