Avondale Estates’ communications manager leaving
Avondale Estates is losing another employee.
Kelly Brooks, the city’s communications manager, has informed Decaturish that she will be leaving her position by mid-October because she will be moving out of state. She has held the position since January of 2014.
“I’ve called Georgia home for over a decade and will truly miss this job, which has been one of the most challenging and rewarding of my career,” Brooks said in an email. “City staff members have been a joy to work with and are incredibly efficient, dedicated and hardworking. The City’s insightful, creative and talented residents and business owners have an unparalleled sense of community, and I’ve enjoyed working with them to help make Avondale Estates great. Moving forward, I’ll assist the City in hiring a skilled, experienced replacement and ensure the new hire is fully trained before I leave. With four months’ notice, I plan to make this transition as smooth as possible for the city.”
The city has already posted the job. This is the second high profile departure from the city in recent months. Juliette Sims-Owens resigned as city clerk on May 4. Emails obtained by Decaturish show she left for personal reasons and her personnel profile showed she had an impeccable record of service to the city.
