The city of Decatur is reporting that despite some initial setbacks, all 6,000 tickets to this summer’s Slide the City event are gone.

Last week, demand for the tickets overloaded the website of the Slide the City website. As of Monday morning, those issues had been resolved.

Ticket holders will get to ride a 1,000 foot water slide down West Ponce de Leon Avenue on July 25.

According to the city and the Slide the City website, the water slide will stretch from Clairemont to a little past Ponce de Leon Place and will be longer than three football fields. Ticket sales will help raise money for the Decatur Business Association.

The water slide event has faced a bumpy roll out in other cities, but the city says it is working with Slide the City to avoid problems that have cropped up in places like Pittsburgh and Fort Worth, Texas. Reported issues have included long lines and equipment malfunctions.
