It looks as if reports about there being no more tickets left for the July 25 Slide the City event are premature.

There have already been 6,000 tickets sold for the event that will allow ticket-holders to ride a 1,000 foot water slide down West Ponce de Leon Avenue.

The city of Decatur now reports that “a few hundred more” tickets will be available for sale tomorrow at 9 a.m. July 1.

“We expect these to sell out quickly, so plan to be on the computer at 9 a.m.,” the city announced.

And while you’re on that computer, be sure to visit the website where you can purchase the tickets, which you can find by clicking here.

The last time there was a ticket-buying frenzy, it crashed the Slide the City website.

According to the city and the Slide the City website, the water slide will stretch from Clairemont to a little past Ponce de Leon Place and will be longer than three football fields. Ticket sales will help raise money for the Decatur Business Association.
