Avondale Estates police have received two reports of thefts from carports within the last seven days.

The most recent report came in on June 2. According to police, officers went to a residence in the 3200 block of Majestic Circle after getting a call about a theft. Officers said someone went into an open carport and stole two bicycles. The incident occurred on June 1 between 5:30 pm and 9 pm.

The other incident occurred sometime on May 27. On May 28, officers responded to a call about a theft in the 1000 block of Chatsworth Drive. Someone had gone inside the victim’s vehicle and stolen a wallet.

“Also taken were a backpack leaf blower and a weed-trimmer which had been located in the open carport,” the report from the Avondale Police Department says.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Inv. Tom Gillis at 404-391-4526.

“Citizens are once again asked to secure/lock items when not in use,” an alert from the Police Department says. “Summer traditionally brings an increase in thefts pertaining to yard maintenance and sports equipment.”
