Decatur hires DeKalb Schools employee as next Renfroe Middle principal

The City Schools of Decatur Board of Education met the new principal of Renfroe Middle School during its July 14 meeting.

Superintendent Phyllis Edwards introduced Johnathan Clark to the board. Clark is coming to Decatur from DeKalb County Schools. He’s served as principal of two elementary schools, McLendon Elementary and Dunwoody Elementary School. Currently he is Director of Research Assessments and Grants in the school system’s central office.  He was one of eight finalists for the Renfroe job.

Clark replaces Derrick Thomas, who left Renfroe to take a job with take a job in Henry County Public Schools. He lives in Avondale Estates.

“I’m really excited,” Clark said. “We’re going to have a great year.”
