Decatur Police car involved in wreck at Candler and College Ave.

Reader David Stemple sent in the following photo of an accident involving a Decatur Police car:

He said the accident occurred at South Candler Street and East College Avenue around 12:45 p.m. on Aug. 10.

“Multiple fire vehicles, police department cars and a Dekalb Medic Unit are on scene,” he said.

No other details were available.

Decaturish has reached out to Decatur PD for more information. Lt. Jennifer Ross said, “An officer was involved in an accident.  There were no injuries.  That is all I have at this time.”

    That is the scariest left in Decatur….onto S. Candler from College S-bound.

    Now that the CoD is directly involved in how jacked up it is..

    Put a left turn signal there!

    College N-Bound goes from 1 lane to 2 lanes and people gun it there if no one is turning left to downtown. And College southbound narrows to 1 lane and a left turn.

    You cannot see past any traffic that is stopped turning left to go downtown whilst turning left onto S Candler from College N-bound. And the intersection is weird shaped to boot.

    So few even try it.
    They take a left on Avery and a right on Winnona and a left on S Candler.
