The Medlock Area Neighborhood Association met with representatives from Walmart and shared some more details about the project slated for Suburban Plaza.

According to Theresa Same, with MANA, the store is expected to open in November of 2015 and employ 300 people. The hours will be 6 a.m. to midnight. “Walmart reserves the right to open 24 hours/day,” Same reported.

She also provided information about trucks that will be unloading merchandise at the store.

“Trucks servicing Walmart will enter from North Decatur Rd. at the new traffic signal, proceed to the back of the building and on to the loading docks there,” Same reported. “The trucks can back directly into the loading docks. Trucks will exit onto Medlock Road, and proceed to Scott Blvd. We should expect three to five trucks per day.”

This looks just GREAT! I talked to the construction superintendent in the Plaza last month and the rest of the work on the site is moving along smoothly . I worked in Suburban Plaza in 1968 and went on to open stores like this one over a 42 year career as project manager for Kmart,Home Depot and Lowes in a variety of job assignments in the Southeast….great fun…bought an Alfa Romeo two Porsches’s and finally sold my Lowes stock after it split three times and now just cook great meals, complain about DeKalb County government, and try to decide which wine to pull from my well stocked cellar for the blackened filet of salmon this evening! Since I’m only 74 I’m thinking about going back to work(door greeter)since my Army Reserve unit in Decatur was deactivated several decades ago I don’t think I will be called up to go to Iraq!
