The Starbucks on the Decatur Square is closing early this week as it completes renovations to the store.

An employee who answered the phone said the renovations will accommodate Starbucks latest products: beer and wine.

Starbucks received its alcohol license from the city in August. A sign is posted on the door informing customers that the Starbucks will close at 6 p.m. from Sunday, Sept. 13 through Thursday, Sept. 17.

“We are getting some new fridges and cabinets and tables and chairs and a few other things,” the employee told Decaturish.

The renovations are part of a nationwide push by the coffee chain to expand its offerings. The company website invites customers to spend “Starbucks Evenings” at your local Starbucks shops.

“We’ve always been your neighborhood morning stop—a place to help you start your day,” the company’s website says. “Now we’re bringing a little delight to your evenings too. Our Starbucks Evenings menu features a thoughtful selection of wine and craft beer alongside the signature coffee and tea beverages you know and love.”
